At Milan's Design Week

After the success of the collaboration that celebrated Roche Bobois' 60th anniversary in 2020, Joana Vasconcelos was invited to extend the Bombom collection outwards with sofas, side tables, canapés and cushions. The official presentation took place at the Salone del Mobile in Milan in April 2023, for which the artist also designed the French brand's stand at the event - which was included in Interni magazine's  top 10 - and included the installation of one of her Valkyries in the main store in the Italian city, considered by Artribune to be one of the best site-specific installations at the event.

“Being an artist allowed me to break the rules that designers usually follow. I had never created a stand before and I wanted to give it a dreamy aura, which reflected the freedom of outdoor life and the warm tones of Lisbon’s sunset.” JOANA VASCONCELOS

From her body of work Crochet Paintings, Joana Vasconcelos had developed a line of sofas, rugs and cushions for interiors in 2020 which, due to its association with colorful, happy and sweet childhood imagery, justified the Bombom title. The French brand continued its dialogue with renowned artists, celebrated six decades of existence and the Tutti Frutti rug entered the top 10 bestsellers of all time, integrating a customizable, multifunctional and playful range of furniture and accessories.

Being an artist allowed me to break the rules that designers usually follow. I had never created a stand before and I wanted to give it a dreamy aura, which reflected the freedom of outdoor life and the warm tones of Lisbon’s sunset.
