Joana Vasconcelos took part in the third edition of Murano Illumina il Mondo, an exhibition project presented in St Mark’s Square, Venice, from November 2025 to March 2026. Promoted by the Comune di Venezia and The Venice Glass Week, the initiative brought together international artists and designers in collaboration with leading Murano glass furnaces, inviting them to reinterpret the chandelier as a contemporary and symbolic object.
In collaboration with Berengo Studio, Joana Vasconcelos presented Cuore Infinito, a luminous sculpture that transforms the chandelier into a living organism. Suspended beneath the arcades of the Procuratie Vecchie, the work takes the form of a pulsating heart of light and colour, reimagining a domestic object as a universal symbol of passion, resilience and transformation. Displayed alongside twelve monumental chandeliers in one of Venice’s most iconic public spaces, Vasconcelos’ contribution highlighted the dialogue between contemporary art and traditional craftsmanship, reaffirming Murano glass as a vital and expressive medium within today’s artistic landscape.
