Solitaire by Joana Vasconcelos will be presented as part of MAAT + Atlético, an initiative that brings together contemporary art and sporting culture by transforming Lisbon's Tapadinha Stadium into a place for gathering, creativity and cultural participation. By opening the stadium to the public beyond match days, the project reimagines this site of strong symbolic significance as a civic and cultural destination, encouraging dialogue between different audiences, communities and forms of artistic expression. Within this context, Solitaire establishes a dialogue between art, architecture and the public realm, contributing to an experience that connects contemporary artistic practice with the everyday life of the neighbourhood. The work reinforces the project's ambition to strengthen the relationship between the local community, Atlético Clube de Portugal and the city, positioning the Tapadinha Stadium as a vibrant cultural landmark. MAAT + Atlético brings together works by several contemporary artists, inviting visitors to explore the stadium through a journey where art and sport intersect, transforming the space and creating new connections between culture, community and the urban landscape.
