The works from the Crochet Paintings series - just like the title of the series itself - declaredly challenge the modernist idea that each artistic medium is autonomous. A dialogue between painting and sculpture, their striped crocheted volumes invoke, simultaneously, the body, landscape, figuration and abstraction. More or less elongated and sometimes punctuated by a diversity of objects, these elements are juxtaposed in order to create a sinuous, joyful composition, while suggesting colorful mountains of an unreal world, or the voluminous bodies of an unlikely universe that is both domestic and burlesque.
