Temple Tetris

In Temple Tetris, Joana Vasconcelos and Arne Quinze explore the concept of the portal. The temple becomes a constantly evolving structure, open to the infinite, rising towards the sky, reaching towards the celestial and the unknown. In this dreamlike vision, the temple functions as a passage, a threshold between worlds.

Rather than simply existing as a closed object, the work creates a space for contemplation where the landscape, the sky, and the presence of the public are integral parts of the work. For Joana Vasconcelos, the installation evokes ancient temples, built in alignment with the stars and the universe. Arne Quinze extends this dialogue by establishing a direct exchange with natural forms within the very structure of the temple. These forms rise through and around the architectural framework like wild vegetation, gradually softening the straight lines.
