Textures of Life
14/10/2016 > 19/02/2017
A three-metre high gleaming stiletto made of saucepans and lids, a chandelier fashioned from thousands of OB sanitary tampons, and a helicopter covered with brightly coloured ostrich feathers. With the exhibition Textures of Life, ARoS presents 17 stunning installations by Joana Vasconcelos, of which the largest, Valkyrie Rán, has been created especially for the museum.
Joana Vasconcelos’s universe is impressive, compelling, and unbelievably sensuous. Full of humour and deeply serious at the same time, her art addresses a wider concept of human history while, in a very sophisticated way, touching on the relationship between mass production and uniqueness.
